“Keep up, Haba!” he calls back over his shoulder as Habanero blunders after him with heavy steps. The paths that run around the safari zone have long become familiar to him, though the creatures may change.

“This is to work on your quickness, after all!”

Letting out a huff (maybe out of annoyance,) the scovillan slows for a moment, but the time is not wasted—within moments the sky blazes with a ripple of heat as [la sunny day takes hold. The weather boost kicks in Habanero’s chlorophyll, and soon he’s lumbering forward at a faster pace. Lam scoffs, but it soon warps into laughter. “My guy, that’s definitely cheating.”

The scovillan rumbles his disagreement—obviously, it’s ingenuity.

If his scovillan is going to play dirty, so is Lam—abruptly he veers off the beaten path into the foliage. Behind him, he can hear Habanero grumbling as he scrambles to slow and change direction. The move disrupts a rookidee in the brush, and she flutters up. Luckily, he’s always prepared for little songbirds to cross his path.

In a moment, some birdseed is produced and the rookidee happily twitters as she lands in his cupped hands to snack.

with the rookidee now happily residing on his shoulder, lam turns to see his scovillan finally catching up. "took ya long enough!"

it's no more than a tease, but habanero rumbles his protest - likely because there are no treats waiting for him.

rather than ward off a curious axew, the pepper pokemon turns and huffs away in another direction with more bumbling grumbles. Lam laughs and jogs forward to pass him - prompting the rookidee to flutter up. "C'mon haba, 'course I didn't forget about you." he pulls a couple apples from his bag and tosses them into two quickly opening sets of jaws.

Taking the pause for the scovillan to enjoy his treats, Lam fished out a water bottle to recharge with himself. Distracted by the sight of Habanero happily gobbling up the apples, and with the pleased twittering of the rookidee in his ears, he completely missed the nincada scuttling by. That was alright, though—it was time to get back to their jog after a few minutes, after all.

Resuming their jog didn’t last too long as a scrappy farfetch’d crossed their paths, massive leek swinging back and forth. Good of a time as any to practice battle on the good. Pulling up to a stop, he jerked his thumb at the bird and looked at his scovillan. “Have at it, haba!” Not missing a beat, the pepper Pokémon thundered forward to spit a charged up, glowing energy ball at his opponent, sending it rolling away.

Lam was ready with a safari ball, though, and made quick work of snatching it up before it could regain any ground.

As soon as the honedge was snapped up by a safari ball, it’s followed by a feisty tinkatink. The little pink imp comes barreling forward, tiny baton swinging in its attempt to quash habanero’s hard work. “Finish strong, bud!” Lam cheers the scovillan forward. Motivated, the roper monster barrels straight ahead—dodging the swing of the tinkatink’s stick before smacking back toward Lam to watch with a hefty zen headbutt.
